Manufacturing

Mandarine Napoléon unveils a refined blend in which mandarin—the heart of the recipe—is combined with a precious selection of aromatic botanicals: green and black teas, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and angelica.

The carefully macerated mandarins bring freshness, roundness, and vibrancy, while the richness of the botanicals provides structure to the blend.

The result is an intense and sophisticated array of aromas that unfolds elegantly and harmoniously on the palate.

History

Mandarine Napoléon liqueur dates back to 1892 and takes its name from the illustrious Napoleon Bonaparte.

According to legend, the Emperor was particularly fond of the combination of mandarins steeped in cognac.

The inspiration behind this creation came from his doctor, Antoine-François de Fourcroy, who had the innovative idea of macerating mandarins in alcohol before blending the resulting distillate with cognac. It is even said that the two men regularly shared this exceptional beverage.

In the 19th century, the Belgian chemist Louis Schmidt discovered the recipe for Napoleon’s favorite drink in Fourcroy’s writings. Inspired by this unique legacy, he set out to bring this creation to life by crafting an exceptional liqueur faithful to this historic recipe.
