Discover all the iconic products from the SALERS brand. Created by Alfred Labounoux in 1885, SALERS Gentian is made with gentian roots grown using sustainable farming practices.
The gentian roots are washed and crushed before being macerated in alcohol for several weeks. After the infusion is drawn off, the roots are placed in copper stills in a water bath for distillation. The distillate obtained is blended with the initial maceration and a subtle bouquet of spices and aromatic herbs, then placed in Limousin oak vats to mature for more than 3 years. Finally comes the last stage: balancing the product. The distiller adds water, neutral alcohol and a little sugar to achieve an alcohol content of 16%, 20% or 25%.
Salers gentian is not a fermented beverage and follows the original recipe based on high-purity alcohol.
