Production

Made using traditional methods, Whisper rum is produced from premium-quality sugarcane molasses made on site. The molasses is fermented in vats and distilled in a column still. The distillate is placed in 200L oak casks previously used to age Bourbon. These casks then impart their full aromatic richness to the rum as it ages.

The island’s tropical climate plays a major role: it allows this spirit to age three times faster, encouraging interaction with the wood, esterification, and oxidation, all of which shape its character. After 5 and 8 years of aging in whiskey casks, the rum, at 65% ABV, is imported to France for bottling.

An authentic approach, with no additives at any stage of the process.

History

Whisper rum is the result of the work of two young Frenchmen passionate about rum, one of whom grew up in the Caribbean. Their goal was to create rum that was as authentic and traditional as possible. To do so, they partnered with a distillery in Barbados, the birthplace of rum. After many years of work, purchasing and selecting the casks, the first bottle of Whisper was born.

Like a delicate whisper, Whisper evokes the finesse of aromas on the palate.

In 2021, Groupe Vedrenne acquired the brand to round out its spirits portfolio, while continuing to share the know-how of unique regions.

Path through sugarcane fields

Barbados, the birthplace of molasses rum

With its warm, tropical climate, Barbados is the sunniest island in the Caribbean. Once an English colony, it became independent in 1966. Its history has been shaped by sugarcane, leaving it with the benefits of centuries-old expertise and a sugar- and rum-making tradition spanning more than 350 years. The rums from this wild, protected paradise are renowned for being light and elegant.
