All about Supercassis VEDRENNE Crème de Cassis 20% - 100cl

How is crème de cassis made?

Crème de Cassis dates back to the 16th century in France, but its production really began in the 18th century. The city of Dijon, in Burgundy, is often cited as the birthplace of Crème de Cassis. At the beginning of the 19th century, the recipe and production method were refined, contributing to the drink’s popularity.

Why is Vedrenne crème de cassis one of the best?

VEDRENNE Supercassis and VEDRENNE Crème de Cassis mainly use the Noir de Bourgogne blackcurrant variety, harvested in France and the most aromatic in the world. The production process respects the fruit and takes its fragility into account: the berries are macerated in alcohol in rotating stainless steel vats, away from air and light. After pressing, the racked infusions are sweetened with dry sugar and contain no additives, even those permitted by law.

What is the difference between a crème and a liqueur?

Sugar content distinguishes a crème from a liqueur. A liqueur must have a minimum sugar content of 100g/L, whereas a crème must have a minimum sugar content of 250g/L.

How should you drink crème de cassis?

- VEDRENNE Crème de Cassis is very versatile. It can be enjoyed:

- Neat over ice

- In cocktails: Crème de Cassis is also added to many cocktails to bring a fruity touch, as in a Spritz.

- In cooking: Crème de Cassis can be used to make sauces and accompany desserts.

Does crème de cassis expire?

Crème de Cassis, like most liqueurs, has a very long shelf life when stored properly. It is best to store your Crème de Cassis in a cool, dry place, away from heat and direct sunlight.
