Since 1859, Verveine du Velay has embodied the art and expertise of distilling herbs and spices. Created by Joseph Rumillet-Charretier, a visionary apothecary with a passion for herbalism, this liqueur quickly became an emblem of the Puy-en-Velay region in Haute-Loire. Today, we are proud to present our liqueur in a new light, while remaining true to the original recipe that has made it renowned for many years.

The new bottle, inspired by the PAGÈS brand archives, features a label adorned with a medallion created especially for the World’s Fair. This label combines vintage typography with modern trends, highlighting our rich heritage and commitment to quality.

WHY ARE HERBAL LIQUEURS TRENDING?
The trend for herbal liqueurs is driven by several factors: their authentic flavors, artisanal production, and the influence of mixology. As demand for herbal liqueurs continues to grow, Distillerie PAGÈS is proud to offer you an iconic liqueur that reflects current trends.
A SECRET RECIPE
The exceptional quality of our liqueur is based on a meticulous production process:

Maceration: The herbs and spices infuse in neutral alcohol for 9 months, allowing all the aromas essential to this liqueur to be extracted.
Distillation: The infusion is then distilled for several hours in Distillerie Pagès’ copper stills with water, alcohol, and various ingredients. As it is heated, the alcohol evaporates and the herbs release their most delicate aromas.
Aging: Our herbal liqueur is then aged in oak barrels for at least 12 months before being bottled.
Distillerie PAGÈS uses lemon verbena, grown in its own fields and certified 100% organic, to produce its herbal liqueurs. Planted beneath the June sun, the verbena is harvested before the first frosts, dried away from the light, and carefully stripped by hand to preserve all its aromatic qualities. Other herbs and spices, including mace, juniper berries, génépi, star anise, cardamom, coriander, gentian root, and thyme, are part of the Verveine du Velay blend. The exact recipe, however, remains a closely guarded secret known to our cellar master.
